State Education Secretary Gerald Zahorchak today released the list, which includes Adrienne Flor, Quaker Valley School District; Thomas Joyce, Pine-Richland School District; and Kimberly McWherter, Derry Area School District.
Other finalists are Timothy Chelednik, Brockway Area; Jeffrey Chou, Abington; Michele Pavlov Fowkes, Upper Perkiomen; Angela D. Homan, Penns Valley; Diane W. Lupia, Mechanicsburg Area; Cyndi Page, Abington Heights; Jaclyn Sheaffer, Midd-West; Gretchen Stoddard, Northern Lebanon; and Paul Wright, Radnor Township.
"This year's finalists represent the best of Pennsylvania's great teachers. They go above and beyond expectations," Dr. Zahorchak said. "The department relishes the opportunity to recognize our teachers, who dedicate themselves to one of the greatest and most rewarding professions."
The winner of Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year, who will represent the state in national competition, will be announced in October. Teachers were nominated by students, parents, colleagues and community members for the honor.
