An estimated 2,500 Duquesne Light customers remain without power this evening.
Duquesne Light spokesman Joseph Vallarian said the number of customers without electricity at 9:30 this evening was significantly lower than the high of 57,000 customers who were in the dark Saturday morning, and crews continue to work to restore power. The restoration efforts, however, have encountered difficulties, especially with another winter storm hitting the region.
"One such example was in White Oak, where crews had to set a 45-foot pole by hand on a steep embankment, using only ropes," Mr. Vallarian said in a news release. "Situations like this have played out all day."
The company projects that service will be restored to all customers by Wednesday afternoon and urged residents to avoid downed wires.
Residents are asked to report outages by calling Duquesne Light at 1-888-393-7000 or going to duqlight.com.
