Planning to save its snow-removal equipment for other major roadways, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation this morning closed the high-occupancy-vehicle lanes on the Parkway North until Monday.
Several inches of snow is expected in the region beginning this afternoon and continuing into Saturday.
The HOV lanes were closed after this morning's rush hour and are expected to reopen for Monday's morning's rush.
"Keeping the HOV lanes closed will allow PennDOT crews to focus winter maintenance efforts on other roadways," the department said.
