Submit your Pitt football question

Thanks for participating in the Pitt football Q&A.

Keep the questions rolling in and I will answer them every day throughout the season and through whatever bowl game Pitt goes to and through signing day in February.

You can follow the Panthers daily here as well as our Pitt football blog.

You can also view my new daily video reports on Pitt football at PG-Plus. Membership in that site is only $3.99 per month or $36 per year.

One other thing -- my weekly live Pitt chats will take place Thursday at noon.

Q: What is your best guess on a bowl game if Pitt wins or loses today?

Frank Salesi, Youngstown, Ohio

ZEISE: If Pitt wins the Sugar seems to be where the Panthers will head. If Pitt loses, there is an outside shot it could be Charlotte but based on what I am told it seems like Birmingham is the most likely destination.

Q: What does Pitt have to do to stop Tony Pike and company? Do you think the Panthers can?

Jackson Dewitt, Atlanta

ZEISE: Nobody really has stopped Tony Pike and I think the way you stop him is this -- you force turnovers and you get off the field on third-and-long. Illinois did neither and ended up giving up 49 points. Pitt is capable of getting pressure and forcing some turnovers but they have to play better on third down than they did at the end of the West Virginia game. And tackle, tackle, tackle -- they can't let Cincinnati's receivers to run wild after they make the catch.

Q: Just finished reading coach Dave Wanstedt's take on the game. He is quoted as saying, "Our team was not ready to play." Who is at fault for that? It is the Backyard Brawl, how can you not be ready to play?

Richard Notari Sr., Old Forge, Pa.

ZEISE: Great question. I think the best way to sum up that game is that it was a failure by all parties involved -- coaches, players and anyone else who had a hand in preparing for and playing that game.
