A few hundred people gathered in front of UPMC Braddock this afternoon to rally the medical giant to keep the hospital open.
UPMC announced last month that it would shutter the facility Jan. 31.
Several people addressed the crowd from a truck bed, accusing the company of favoring profits over local residents who use the hospital.
"They do not care about the poor, predominantly African-American members of this community," said Braddock Councilwoman Tina Doose.
Braddock Council President Jesse Brown said he plans to contact the U.S. Department of Justice seeking a "civil rights action against UPMC."
