Baierl Automotive Group, of McCandless, was the recipient of the American Cancer Society's Corporate Partnership Award at a volunteer recognition dinner held last month at the Sheraton in Station Square. Dave Marrogoni, vice president of marketing for the company, accepted the award.

In December Baierl Automotive approached the society about Drive for the Cure, pledging $50 to the society for every car sold. The campaign raised $30,000 to support the programs and services of the society.

• Rite Aid in Shaler was recently recognized by the American Diabetes Association for providing quality self-management education about the disease to its customers.

Pharmacist Stephanie Harriman McGrath, of Shaler, spearheaded the recognition effort for the facility at 900 Mount Royal Blvd.

• Colaizzi's Hair Styling in McCandless has been selected for the 2009 Best of Pittsburgh Award in the Beauty Salon category by the U.S. Commerce Association.

The association's "Best of Local Business" award program recognizes companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and their community.

Salon owner, Vince Colaizzi, also is the recipient of the Master of the Craft award from the Arts and Fashion Group International. He volunteered his time and talents to the Cut-a-Thon To Benefit Homeless Children, and was recognized for his sponsorship of the local K-9 Dash.
