Tuesday, November 17, 2009

A restaurant fire is being investigated after the building burned Sunday night in New Castle.

The fire was reported at 11:17 p.m. at Croton and Vine streets. Fire officials said they arrived to find flames already burning in multiple parts of the building.

Firefighters contained the blaze within the original structure, although it could not be saved. Two adjacent buildings were not damaged.

The building was known locally as Matty's Restaurant, which was closed. New owners had not yet opened for business at the time of the fire.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.
