Monday, November 16, 2009

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Navorro Bowman's game-changing play has earned him defensive player of the week honors from the Big Ten Conference.

He returned an interception 73 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter Saturday to snap a tie and help lift Penn State to a 31-20 victory over Indiana at Beaver Stadium.

Bowman, a redshirt junior outside linebacker, collected a team-high 12 tackles, including six solos, and a sack. Earlier this year, he returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown against Eastern Illinois.

Bowman, an All-American candidate, is the second Penn State linebacker to be honored this season, joining Sean Lee.

The No. 13 Nittany Lions (9-2, 5-2 Big Ten) close out their season Saturday at Michigan State (6-5, 4-3).
