The Washington & Jefferson College football team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs and the Presidents will travel to Alliance, Ohio, to meet defending national champion Mount Union College. The Presidents (9-1) and No. 1 ranked Purple Raiders (10-0) will play a first-round contest at noon Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.
Washington & Jefferson, ranked 13th in the latest American Fotball Coaches Association Top 25 poll, is making its 21st appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs. W&J owns a 21-20 record in postseason play and advanced to last year's quarterfinal round.
The Presidents are in the NCAA playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, joining Mount Union and Mary Hardin-Baylor as the only schools to accomplish the feat. Mount Union has made the playoffs every year since 1992 and owns 21 all-time appearances.
