A Washington County woman was found dead in her car after a crash that occurred sometime between 8 and 9 p.m. Wednesday night in the county, the coroner's office said.

Investigators said the vehicle had been seen by a passing motorist being driven recklessly around 8 p.m. with Shawna Lynn Pigford, 39, believed to have been the driver.

The car was last seen traveling south on Route 980 in Cecil. It went off the roadway when the driver lost control on a slight bend near Coleman Road.

Ms. Pigford, of Cecil, was found in the vehicle at 8:50 p.m. when the crash scene was found among several damaged trees in a wooded area.
