This week's TV Q&A responds to questions about "The Jay Leno Show," "CSI: Miami" and "Are You Smarter than a Fifth-Grader?" As always, thanks for reading, and keep those questions coming.
-- Rob Owen, Post-Gazette TV editor
Q: In regards to the Jay Leno show, obviously it is an enormous failure. How do you think it will go? This is a big mess that will need a lot of attention. Does Jay go back to 11:30? And if so, what happens to Conan? Do they have any programming in place to step in at 10 p.m.? Also, is this the biggest flop/worst idea in television history? Can you give your opinion on what will happen?
-- Mike, 39, Enschede, The Netherlands
Rob: I think a lot will depend on what happens if Comcast buys NBC-Universal and then sells off NBC. The network's new owner will probably make the call on Leno.
Certainly the conventional wisdom is that the Leno experiment is a failure but we don't know if it's truly a financial failure. Since the show was put on solely on economic grounds, its success/failure remains to be seen. The real question is how long NBC will ignore the conventional wisdom before they try to save face?
Q: I agree with you about "Accidentally on Purpose," but that theme song: "I Can't Be Anything Without You." It sounds very familiar. Was it used as a theme song on another TV show?
-- Diane, 56, Arlington
Rob: The song is "Birds of a Feather" by the Rosenbergs. Their songs have been used in other TV shows, but I don't know if this song has ever been used as a theme song.
Q: I recently previewed "V" to decide if it is appropriate for my 10-year-old child. I was skeptical given the TV-14 rating, however, I've seen more violence on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and more sexuality on a Disney movie.
Will the future episodes get more violent or sexual?
Oh did you like it? I liked it much better than the original.
-- Christopher, 40, Greenfield
Rob: I was a huge fan of the original, but I did give the new "V" a positive review. I also enjoyed this week's second episode.
You did absolutely the right thing in previewing the show before letting your child watch. Parents know their children's individual sensibilities best and need to be the ones to make a judgment call about whether a program will be too intense.
Since I have not seen future episodes of the series, there's no way to know what the content of those episodes will be. Given some of the plot twists in the original "V," I could easily see more sexuality creeping in but I would be surprised if it got much more violent than seeing an alien lizard's true face exposed.
Q: Like you, I am a fan of Canada's "Corner Gas."
I had been eagerly awaiting the sixth and final season of "CG" on WGN, but when episodes of the show stopped airing in general, I became concerned.
I e-mailed WGN and received a response that the network's licensing agreement with the show had expired. Do you know if there is a chance that any other network (TBS, Comedy Central, etc.) may pick it up?
Also, speaking of TBS, any word on when new episodes of "10 Items or Less" may air?
-- Greg, 44, South Hills
Rob: "10 Items or Less" has been canceled so there will be no new episodes forthcoming.
WGN did not renew its rights to air "Corner Gas" and as far as I know no other American outlet has picked it up. That final season is available on DVD.
Q: I am a fan of "CSI: Miami." What has happened to Delko (Adam Rodriguez)? The entire cast seems to be moving in different directions
-- Jan, Pittsburgh
Rob: Rodriguez left the show. Rodriguez will next guest star on "Ugly Betty."
Q: How long has Jeff Foxworthy been on "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?"?
-- Jackie, 66, Bradenton, Fla.
Rob: Foxworthy has been the host since the show began airing in February 2007.
Q: Any idea if or when "Real Housewives of New York City" and "Dr. 90210" will be back for another season? Thanks.
-- Peg, 57, Speers
Rob: "Real Housewives of New York City" will return sometime in 2010. There's no exact date. As for "Dr. 90210," the show has not yet been renewed but a special, "Extreme Dr. 90210," will air on E! at 10 p.m. Dec. 2.
After last week's viewer question about a child picking his nose and then sticking his fingers in his mouth in a KDKA promo for its annual turkey drive fundraiser, KDKA re-edited the spot, covering the nose-picker in the lower right corner with a graphic. Again, kudos to Joyce of Butler for catching this fantastic blooper.

Promo before Joyce's catch, left, and after the catch, right.
