The high school Powder Puff football game will be played Tuesday at the Fox Chapel Area High School James. M. Burk Stadium and will begin at 6 p.m. The junior girls will play the senior girls.
Admission is $7 per person, with $2 off with the donation of a nonperishable food item for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
The stadium is located at 611 Field Club Road in O'Hara.
The Dorseyville Middle School fall musical, Disney's "Beauty and the Beast, Jr.," will be presented at 7 p.m. next Thursday and Nov. 20 in the auditorium of the middle school, 550 Saxonburg Road. Highlands School District has opened its free evening recreational swim program to district residents through April 29.
The Highlands High School pool will be open from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for family swimming on Mondays and Wednesday and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for adult swimming.
The pool will be closed on any day the school is closed.
Detailed rules and regulations are posted on the entrance doors to the pool and are available by contacting Chuck Debor, pool operator, at 724-226-1000, ext. 6102.
Learn to swim lessons for all ages will begin Jan. 5, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. To register for lessons, contact Katie McCue at cmccue@goldenrams.com.
Ross Elementary School staff and parents will take on the Harlem Wizards basketball team at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the North Hills Junior High School annex gymnasium, 55 Rochester Road in Ross.
Advance tickets are $10 per adult and $8 per student/senior citizen and can be ordered by e-mailing Shelley Bosanac at RossElemPTA@gmail.com by tomorrow. Tickets are limited. If available at the door, the cost will be $12 for adults and $10 students/senior citizens.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Refreshments and Wizards merchandise will be available for purchase. In addition, a free autograph session with the Harlem Wizards will be held after the game.
Parents may now obtain kindergarten registration packets for the 2010-11 academic year.
Packets will be available at all six elementary schools and in the lobby of the district's administration center, 135 Sixth Ave., Ross; packets may be downloaded from the Web site at www.nhsd.net.
The packets provide forms and information about required documents, such as proofs of residency and health immunizations. Completed registration packets will be accepted from 3 to 8 p.m. March 26 at McIntyre Elementary School.
Students registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old before Sept. 1.
The district's Thespian Society is rehearsing its premiere production, "Almost Maine," to be held 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21. Tickets will cost $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
The society is a student-run organization that allows participants to learn every aspect of the theater profession.
"The arts teach students to be independent thinkers, cooperative workers and to have fun while they work," said teacher John Dolphin.

For saving enough energy in one year to effectively plant more than 47,112 trees, Seneca Valley School District has earned The Award for Energy Stewardship from Energy Education. It was presented Monday.
The award recognizes efforts "to implement an innovative people-oriented energy conservation and management program," according to a release from Energy Education, a national initiative that has developed energy conservation programs for schools and churches.
