BERLIN, Pa. -- A Somerset County man has been charged with repeatedly raping a mentally disabled woman at her apartment and, later, the nursing home where she's lived since 2007.
Fifty-eight-year-old Gary Lee Livengood, of Berlin, was arraigned on charges including rape and rape of a disabled person yesterday.
Berlin police say the victim was afraid to report the attacks because Mr. Livengood has "lots of guns and knives." Police say the attacks began in 2004 and continued through May when Mr. Livengood was banned from visiting the woman at the nursing home.
Police say the woman suffered a mild heart attack after one incident and told her sister, who contacted police.
