Can you find way to help?

North Hills Community Outreach, 1975 Ferguson Road in Hampton, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon again Saturday to accept donations of food and other items.

On Oct. 10, NHCO, which helps local people in need, took the unprecedented step of opening on a Saturday to accept donations for the coming week. The residents of the North Hills were generous, and the agency collected $4,000 in food donations in just three hours.

With days growing shorter and decidedly chillier, the agency is hoping to repeat that good fortune this week. For those out of work or underemployed, this could be a very long winter.
