Quaker Valley School District is expecting more than 100 volunteers to stop in to complete volunteer clearance applications during volunteer workshops Monday and Tuesday, according to Martha Smith, district spokeswoman.
The district is conducting the workshops so volunteers can complete three mandatory application steps for clearance -- tuberculosis test, fingerprinting and ID photo -- in one visit.
Volunteers can stop in between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Osborne School on Monday and at Edgeworth School on Tuesday. For first-time volunteers, the process should take about 40 minutes, Ms. Smith said.
At the minimum, each volunteer should bring a photo ID, his or her Social Security number and a check to cover the cost of state and federal clearance applications. Volunteers need to complete this process only once.
Volunteers who have clearances and TB tests that are less than a year old should take their original clearance and medical documentation to the volunteer workshops to be copied and recorded.
"We are indebted to our volunteers; we couldn't accomplish what we do without them," Ms Smith said. Volunteers who consider the $56 for the clearances a burden may submit their receipts to the district or speak to their building principal to have the fees waived, she said.
