Matt Adams scored on touchdown runs of 33 and 10 yards in the fourth quarter to lead Greensburg Salem to a 14-6 come-from-behind victory against visiting Derry.
The win clinches a Keystone Conference title for the Golden Lions (8-1, 6-0), ranked No. 5 in the WPIAL in Class AAA. The Trojans (3-6, 3-3) also qualify for the playoffs, despite the loss.
Derry opened the scoring with a 1-yard sneak by Mike Kelly in the third quarter. Kelly completed 13 of 27 passes for 155 yards, but threw two interceptions.
The top-ranked Jaguars (9-0, 6-0) finished the regular season with an unblemished record after a road victory against the host Titans (5-4, 2-4). Sam Johnston completed 6 of 13 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns for the Jaguars. Johnston connected with Jimmy Giansante on scoring strikes of 55 and 66 yards, and with Ed Hasis on a 48-yard scoring pass. T.J. Matrascia rushed for 111 yards on 15 carries for the Jaguars and scored on runs of 7 and 13 yards.
Rushel Shell rushed for 288 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs of 9 and 7 yards, as the No. 2 Vikings (9-0, 6-0) finished the regular season with an unblemished record and claimed the Parkway Conference title with a shutout of the visiting Tigers (0-9, 0-6). Shell has 2,043 yards on 193 carries for the season. Hopewell's Matt Hundenski threw touchdown passes of 34 and 12 yards to Mark Ross.
Rob LaMonde ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in a 28-point second quarter, as the No. 3 Colts (8-1) rolled to an easy non-conference victory against the visiting Colonials (3-6). The Colts Kevin Gillen rushed for 214 yards and scored on a 20-yard run. Gillen also caught a 28-yard scoring pass from LaMonde, who completed 6 of 9 passes for 111 yards.
The host Leopards (5-4, 3-3) rallied from a 9-0 deficit with 37 unanswered points to qualify for the WPIAL playoffs with a Big Seven Conference victory against the Warriors (4-5, 1-5). Belle Vernon's Matt Green rushed for 201 yards on 21 carries and scored on a 13-yard run. Corey Williams, Mike Thayer, Spencer Lynn, and Brandon Dilmore also scored touchdowns for Belle Vernon.
The Hillers (4-5, 3-3) earned a Big Seven Conference playoff berth with its victory against the Rams (3-6, 1-5). Eric Richards led the way for Trinity by rushing for 240 yards on 32 carries. Richards scored on runs of 3, 3, and 1 yards. Mike Cleveland added a 20-yard field goal for the Hillers. Ringgold scored on a 1-yard run by Neal Rands and a 42-yard field goal by Skylar Fransko.
The Panthers (7-2, 4-1) clinch home-field advantage in the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs with a narrow victory against the host Little Indians (1-8, 1-4) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Franklin Regional scored on a 71-yard run by Chad Bowman and a 31-yard interception return by Kevin Ly. Bowman rushed for 120 yards on 19 carries. Indiana scored its only touchdown on a 1-yard run by Kyle Edgar.
The host Talbots (5-4, 3-2) scored 38 points in the first half, en route to a shutout of the winless Golden Rams (0-9, 0-5) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Andrew Bly rushed for 203 yards on 20 carries for Hampton and scored four times on runs of 4, 4, 4 and 13 yards. Hampton also scored on interception returns of 60 and 49 yards by Bill Young and Ben Krause.
The Red Raiders (6-3, 5-1) clinch home-field advantage in the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs with a victory against the visiting Mustangs (3-6, 3-3) in the Keystone Conference. Uniontown scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to break open a close game. Arnold Walker led Uniontown with 207 yards on 25 carries and touchdown runs of 2 and 61 yards. Jake Forsythe added 157 yards and scored on runs of 13 and 40 yards for the Red Raiders.
Matt Gross rushed for 217 yards on 24 carries and scored on runs of 3, 13, 17 and 18 yards to lead the host Cougars (2-7, 2-4) to a Keystone Conference victory against the winless Scotties (0-9, 0-6). Southmoreland's Bo Datz scored on touchdown runs of 10 and 2 yards, and connected with Connor McKleveen on scoring passes of 46 and 5 yards.
Matt Emge threw a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Cougars (4-5, 2-4) to a Parkway Conference shutout of the Bridgers (3-6, 1-5). Emge completed 6 of 8 passes for 111 yards and connected with Chuckie Lipp on a 20-yard scoring strike and with Mike McGovern on a 37-yard scoring pass. Blackhawk also scored on a 16-yard run by Mike Mazza.
The Red Hurricane (7-2) scored 21 points in the first quarter en route to a non-conference road victory against the Warriors (3-6). Keith Keene scored on runs of 9 and 8 yards for New Castle, while teammate Justin Fleo rushed for 133 yards and scored on a 69-yard run. New Castle's John Matarazzo completed 11 of 18 passes for 148 yards.
