Two Clarion University students, one a running back on the football team, face charges after a fight in a crowded campus dining hall Wednesday in which the player was stabbed in the leg, authorities said.
Clarion County District Attorney Mark Aaron said yesterday the dispute between the men apparently involved a young woman. The students, both 19 years old, were treated and released from Clarion Hospital.
According to university spokesman Tom Schott, sophomore LeVaughn Robinson, 19, from Penn Hills, shoved Dan Wyant, a freshman from Erie, as both men prepared to leave the Eagle Commons dining hall about 6:20 p.m. Mr. Schott said Mr. Wyant, who apparently fell to the floor, got up and stabbed Mr. Robinson in the leg with a knife.
Mr. Wyant faces charges of simple assault, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, Mr. Aaron said. Mr. Robinson faces charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, stalking and harassment, the district attorney said.
About 400 people were in the dining hall when the fight erupted.
