Donations are needed to make the holidays happy ones for residents of the Washington Women's Shelter, a temporary safe haven for local women and children in need.
Toys, personal-care items or nonperishable food item donations for children, teens and their mothers can be placed in a shoe-box size box and dropped off at the Sunny Bridge Natural Foods store at 130 Gallery Drive in Peters Town Center. Deadline is Dec. 10.

The township again is participating with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to collect "Toys for Tots" this holiday season. Collection boxes are located in the lobbies of the municipal building, community center and library. Items also can be dropped off at a tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 in the library.
New, unwrapped gifts for children from infancy to 14 years may be placed in the collection boxes anytime through Dec. 6. The Marine Corps Reserve will pick up the gifts and will be responsible for their distribution.

The township is seeking input on a road shed site. Supervisors can't agree where to build a new building for the road department and want suggestions from the public.
The board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in the municipal building. Residents living within 300 feet of Community Park will receive written notification.
A motion to build the new road shed in the northwest corner of Community Park on Floral Hill Drive failed by a 3-2 vote Tuesday night. Vice Chairman Ed Mazur, who made the motion, and Chairman Thomas Moore voted to build a new shed there. Supervisors Robert Hollick, Robert Koman and Dan Piatt cast dissenting votes.
Mr. Piatt said he had received an offer of 5 acres near the intersection of routes 519 and 136 that would be donated to the township as the location for a new road shed. Mr. Hollick said he has always been opposed to constructing the building in the park.
Mr. Mazur, after the meeting, pointed out that there were a number of conditions to get the free acreage.
Manager John Stickle said the previous board's intention for the land donated by Consol was to use it for a park, although nothing in the deed prohibits construction of a road shed. Mr. Mazur said an earlier master plan included the road shed on park land.
