South Fayette school board refocuses on elementary crowding
Wednesday, October 28, 2009

South Fayette school directors are renewing efforts to examine the elementary school overcrowding problem.

Board President Leonard Fornella said last night that representatives of the advisory firm Public Financial Management Inc., of Pittsburgh, will attend the board's Nov. 17 committee meeting to discuss the district's financial position and borrowing capacity.

Representatives of Eckles Architecture & Engineering, of New Castle, met with the board last week to review their March 2008 study of possible scenarios to expand space in the elementary school.

Mr. Fornella said with 222 kindergartners this year -- the largest class ever -- and growth predictions on target, the board is revisiting and refocusing on elementary school space concerns.
