• What to do: Back in the day, Dr. Charles Fletcher Lewis was an avid conservationist who used his dual professions -- teaching and newspaper writing -- to advocate for a halt to clear-cutting and extensive mining. The 384-acre natural area near Seward that was named for him includes the Rager Mountain Trail Loop Trail, a steep, rocky moderately difficult 4.8-mile path that hooks past the forested ridge line and waterfalls on Clark Run.
