Tuesday, August 18, 2009

An Evans City man is accused of photographing and videotaping sexual encounters with a teenaged girl over the course of a year.

Chantal Sahady, the wife of the suspect, Stephen Sahady Jr., 25, recently reported the weekly encounters between her husband and the girl, now 14, of Cranberry.

Mr. Sahady was arraigned on charges of aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors.

He is being held on $100,000 bail, pending a preliminary hearing tomorrow before District Judge Wayne Seibel in Evans City.

Mrs. Sahady told police in Evans City that that she initially participated in the incidents. She would pick up the girl at her Cranberry home and drive her to the Sahady residence on Hill Street, according to a police affidavit.

The suspect's wife said she witnessed some of the sexual acts but she ceased participating because it made her uncomfortable.

Mrs. Sahady said the encounters started Aug. 12 last year and continued at least weekly until last month.

Charges were filed July 30.

Evans City police said they seized Mr. Sahady's personal computer and camera, which contain images of the sexual encounters between him and the girl.

At one point on one of the video recordings, Mr. Sahady all but admitted the crimes with the comment, "Now this is like child porn and corrupting minors," according to the affidavit.

The hard drive from the computer is being examined by experts with the state police, who already have extracted some of the illegal content.

Police said more charges may be filed.
