On June 24, the McKeesport Area school board passed its 2009-10 budget. Here are some highlights of the budget, by the numbers:

16.71: The millage for the coming year for the McKeesport Area School District, down from 17.71 mills for this year.

$40: The amount the one-mill decrease will save the average homeowner in the district.

$59,137,065: The amount of the total district budget for the 2009-10 fiscal year, a 1.67 percent increase from the past fiscal year.

$4,368,391: The projected beginning fund balance for the 2009-10 fiscal year.

$359,774: The amount the district is receiving in federal funding through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act
