Pittsburgh police SWAT officers seized drugs and weapons after a raid on two adjacent houses in Homewood today.
Officers, who were accompanied by police dogs, executed a search warrant in the 7000 block of Forest Way at around 11 a.m., according to Sgt. Charles Henderson.
When the residents did not immediately surrender, officers broke the windows and searched the homes. Sgt. Henderson declined to comment on the drugs and weapons recovered.
Five people were arrested or detained, said Sgt. Henderson. A woman and four handcuffed men sitting outside the homes were taken away around 1 p.m. Charges against them are pending.
The search warrant was issued after an assault occurred at the residences between midnight and 5 a.m. today, said Sgt. Henderson. He refused to comment on the details of the incident and said investigations were ongoing.
Neighbors said they did not know what was happening and were not familiar with the residents of the two homes.
