East Carson Street was to be reduced to alternating one-way traffic this afternoon between Becks Run Road and the Glenwood Bridge during repair of flood damage, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
Temporary stop signs will be installed to control traffic flow. About 17,000 vehicles use that section of Route 837 on an average day, PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi said, and motorists are being urged to find alternate routes.
The restrictions will be in place around-the-clock indefinitely. Recent flooding from severe thunderstorms has caused the road surface to heave. Mr. Struzzi said PennDOT crews will "work expeditiously to complete the repairs . . . as soon as possible."
