Abe Lincoln made a return visit (sort of, anyway) to Pittsburgh last week at the Heinz History Center. It's been a while since we've seen the 16th President. His first visit to our city was in 1861. Lincoln was en route to his inauguration and stayed at the Monongahela House, a grand hotel on Smithfield Street. His room has been recreated at the history center and it comes complete with the original furniture, bed and a chamber pot. Lincoln himself is not original. He's portrayed here by Rick Miller, a professional Lincoln presenter from Cranberry. The room is part of a traveling exhibit created by the National Constitution Center to mark the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth.
