Where: The rose garden at Renziehausen Park on Tulip Drive, off Eden Park Boulevard and Route 148.

Why: The public garden and arboretum, started in 1938, is the second largest rose garden in Pennsylvania (behind Hershey Gardens in Hershey). It has more than 1,800 roses in 40 beds, plus large plantings of perennials and a water garden. Blooming is at its peak during the last week of May through June and again in September. It's maintained by the Garden Club of McKeesport with the help of volunteers from the Pittsburgh Rose Society and others. The garden is open from sunrise to sunset.
