Q: Any idea what Travon Woodall's status is? He hasn't been in the rotation for a while.

Ron Joseph, Pittsburgh

FITTIPALDO: Woodall has been battling through some injuries, and he happens to be the odd man out in the rotation. Woodall was the recepient of an elbow that jarred some teeth loose on the first day of practice. That forced him to miss a few days during the preseason that set him back. Ashton Gibbs assumed the backup point guard duties while he was out and Woodall has not been able to compete for the spot since.

On Sunday after the St. John's game, coach Jamie Dixon mentioned a knee injury for the first time. Apparently, that knee has been an issue for the past week or so. Dixon said that Woodall could be eligible for a redshirt depending upon the number of games Pitt plays by the end of the season. A player must take part in 30 percent or less of the total number of games and must have documentation of an injury. Woodall has played in 10 games thus far.
