HARRISBURG -- Gov. Ed Rendell has ordered that all U.S. and state flags at state facilities in Pennsylvania be flown at half-staff in honor of Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll, who died of cancer yesterday. They will remain at half-staff until she is buried.
Funeral arrangements are still being made.
Mrs. Knoll was sworn into office in January 2003, when Mr. Rendell became governor. She was the first woman elected as lieutenant governor.
