Teen made up story of abduction, assault
Thursday, November 13, 2008

Police today said a 15-year-old who claimed she was abducted and assaulted last night on the North Side made up the story because she had stayed out past her curfew and was afraid to go home.

The girl had said she was standing on Fleming Avenue when a large white man drove up and began a conversation with her. Then he supposedly pulled her into his car, drove her to a warehouse and had sexual contact with her.

Police found the girl after she was reported walking along Route 65 "looking distressed."

After interviewing her today, detectives determined her distress was caused by missing curfew.

The girl, who was not identified, will not be charged. The family has been referred to counseling.
