Richard Lowry ran for 135 yards on 29 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Perry, the Post-Gazette's second-ranked team in the City League, to a 26-6 victory against Westinghouse yesterday at Cupples Stadium.
After Westinghouse (1-5, 1-5) scored the game's first points off of Darrell Cosby's 47-yard touchdown pass to David Palmer in the first quarter, Perry (6-1, 6-1) responded when Lowry scored his first touchdown on a 6-yard run.
Greg McGhee's 1-yard scoring run in the second gave Perry a 13-6 lead.
In the third, Lowry scored on a 4-yard run to make it 20-6.
Lowry capped off the scoring in the fourth with a 25-yard touchdown run.
The Commodores have not lost since falling, 28-3, to No. 1 Brashear (6-0, 6-0) in the first week of the season.
Westinghouse has failed to score more than six points in any of its past four games. The Bulldogs' last win was a 24-6 defeat of Oliver (2-4, 2-3) Sept. 5.
Langley 21, Allderdice 20
Joey Bell ran for 144 yards on 25 carries and scored one touchdown as Langley (3-4, 3-3) edged Allderdice (0-7, 0-6).
After a scoreless first quarter, Bob Law scored the game's first points on a 2-yard run in the second. Bell's conversion run put Langley up 8-0 at halftime.
Allderdice responded in the third when Kedron Jones caught a 77-yard touchdown pass from Will Clarke.
In the fourth, Bell's 27-yard scoring run put Langley up 15-6.
A 52-yard pass from Allderdice's Mike Pfleger to Jones and conversion pass to Clark pulled the Dragons within a point, at 15-14.
Ron Carson's 3-yard run gave Langley a 21-14 lead.
Allderdice tried to take the lead late in the game when Pfleger threw his second scoring pass, this time a 10-yard strike to Chris Hollis. An attempted conversion pass failed, however.
Pfleger led the game with 197 yards passing; Jones had four catches for 123 yards.
Langley edged Allderdice in total yards, 225-223.
