Todd Thomas scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to lead host Beaver Falls, ranked No. 1 in WPIAL Class AA by the Post-Gazette, to a 45-24 victory against Mohawk in a Midwestern Conference game last night.
Thomas had touchdown receptions of 59 and 82 yards from quarterback Tony Omogrosso and also added a five-yard run for a score to help Beaver Falls (7-0, 6-0) grab a 21-0 first quarter lead.
Thomas finished with four catches for 210 yards. Omogrosso completed eight of 16 passes for 259 yards. He also threw two interceptions.
Alex Wiltse added two rushing touchdowns for the Tigers.
Travis Schubert ran for two touchdowns for Mohawk (4-3, 4-3), which pulled to 31-24 after Schubert's three-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
Beaver Falls put the game away with two late touchdowns on an 18-yard run from Cody Cook and a one-yard run from Wiltse.
Aliquippa 35, New Brighton 14
Rashad Kenney's 99-yard touchdown run highlighted visiting Aliquippa's Midwestern Conference victory. Maurice Carter added a pair of touchdown runs for Aliquippa (5-2, 4-2). Terry Patrick and Donte Williams also had touchdown runs for the Quips. Trey Hall rushed for 167 yards, including touchdown runs of 58 and 75 yards, for New Brighton (1-6, 1-5).
Center 48, Ellwood City 0
Preston Dawson completed seven of eight passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns to lead visiting Center (6-1, 5-1) to a victory over Ellwood City (0-7, 0-6) in a Midwestern Conference game.
Riverside 23, Freedom 20
Cole Jackson's seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave visiting Riverside the Midwestern Conference victory. Jackson ran for 163 yards on 18 carries and also added an 18-yard touchdown run for Riverside (2-5, 2-4). Wide receiver Nick Pertile had 10 catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns to lead Freedom (1-6, 1-6).
Jeannette 67, Washington 8
No. 2 Jeannette (7-0, 7-0) beat visiting Washington (1-6, 1-6) in an Interstate Conference game.
Greensburg Central Catholic 49, Brownsville 6
David Miller rushed for three touchdowns to lead host Greensburg Central Catholic to an Interstate Conference victory over Brownsville. The No. 3 Centurians (7-0, 7-0) rushed for 215 yards and outgained Brownsville (0-7, 0-7) 316-128. Miller leads the WPIAL with 27 touchdowns this season.
McGuffey 20, Charleroi 7
Trenton Bedillion had a six-yard touchdown run and two interceptions to lead host McGuffey to the Interstate Conference win. Matt Czulewicz had a one-yard touchdown run, threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Milligan and also blocked his sixth punt of the year for McGuffey (4-3, 4-3). Quentin Briggs had a four-yard touchdown run for Charleroi (2-5, 2-5).
Mount Pleasant 28, South Allegheny 14
Bryce Ansell ran for 115 yards and Derek Mellers rushed for two touchdowns to lead host Mount Pleasant (4-3, 4-3) to the Interstate Conference victory. Zach Anderson threw two touchdowns for South Allegheny (4-3, 4-3).
East Allegheny 41, Waynesburg 0
Monte Ashby ran for 225 yards on 19 carries and scored five touchdowns to lead host East Allegheny to an Interstate Conference victory over Waynesburg. Ashby has now rushed for 1,164 yards this season. The Wildcats (5-2, 5-2) rushed for 329 yards and outgained Waynesburg (1-6, 1-6) in total yards 394-116.
Keystone Oaks 14, Quaker Valley 7
Dan Amman caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Corey Vellovich in the second overtime to lead No. 5 and host Keystone Oaks (7-0, 7-0) to the Century Conference victory. Keystone Oaks is 7-0 for the first time since 1947, when it was called Dormont High School. Dion Wiegand ran for 205 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Eagles. Korrtezz Martin ran for 106 yards and had a touchdown for Quaker Valley (3-4, 3-4).
Bishop Canevin 21, Northgate 0
Matt Butter threw touchdown passes of eight and five yards to wide receiver Dan Hrapla, as visiting Bishop Canevin picked up a Century Conference win. Jeff Dobbins rushed for 105 yards on 23 carries and also had a two-yard touchdown run for Bishop Canevin (3-4, 3-4). Northgate (1-6, 1-6) was held to 98 total yards.
Seton-La Salle 18, Steel Valley 0
Anthony Zwickle rushed for 104 yards and scored on a 12-yard run to help Seton-La Salle shut out host Steel Valley in a Century Conference game. Anthony Rizza and Mitch Cunningham also had touchdown runs for Seton-La Salle (6-1, 6-1). Steel Valley (3-4, 3-4) was held to 104 total yards and five first downs.
Cornell 27, South Fayette 26
Eddie Bretch caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Christian Jackson and then caught a 2-point conversion pass from Mark Rucker with seven seconds left to give host Cornell its first Century Conference victory of the season. Rucker had three rushing touchdowns, as Cornell (1-6, 1-6) rallied with 21 fourth-quarter points. Jeff Davis had four touchdowns for South Fayette (2-5, 2-5).
Sto-Rox 20, South Park 17
Nico DiMichele caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Paul Jones as time expired to give host Sto-Rox the Century Conference victory over South Park. Jones completed 12 of 21 passes for 208 yards and threw two touchdowns for the Vikings (7-0, 7-0). Shane Dotson rushed for 134 yards for South Park (2-5, 2-5).
Ford City 55, Apollo Ridge 0
Sean Kriley ran for 83 yards and a touchdown, and Kent Commodore added two rushing touchdowns to lead visiting Ford City (6-1, 6-1) to the Allegheny Conference victory. Apollo Ridge (2-5, 2-5) was held to two first downs and 20 total yards.

Jake Nardone ran for 175 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead visiting Beaver to a non-conference victory over Class AAA Ambridge. Nardone had touchdown runs of 2, 12 and 28 yards for Beaver (6-1), which rushed for 291 yards. Zach Nichi passed for 261 yards and Darren Jones had a five-yard touchdown run for Ambridge (1-6).
