A Pittsburgh Public Schools instructor has been accused of possession of child pornography.
Daniel Toler, 46, of Highland Park, was arrested Thursday. Mr. Toler, a math instructor at Sunnyside K-8 Elementary School in Stanton Heights, was arraigned on two counts of unlawful contact with a minor and one count each of possession of child pornography and criminal attempt to commit obscenity.
According to investigators, Mr. Toler chatted online with an undercover detective posing as a 12-year-old girl, performed a sex act for the agent via a Web cam and downloaded numerous pictures and videos featuring child pornography.
The pornography was found both on Mr. Toler's personal computer and a laptop provided to him by the school district. He was released on $10,000 bond and faces a preliminary hearing Thursday.
In August, Mr. Toler, who was not named at the time, was suspended with pay from his job, pending the investigation.
At the time, he was described as a math coach who helped teachers improve their instructional practices.
