A Butler County man has been charged with kidnapping and related charges after his 17-year-old former girlfriend was found unharmed at his home about four hours after an Amber Alert was issued.
Police said Joshua McCaslin, 19, argued with Maria Shriver of Zelienople at her school bus stop about 7 a.m. When she attempted to board the bus, he grabbed her by the arm, pulled her across the street, forced her into a pickup truck and fled, police said.
The bus driver contacted police and the Amber Alert was issued. State troopers found the couple at Mr. McCaslin's home in Renfrew about 11 a.m. Mr. McCaslin was taken into custody and Ms. Shriver was found to be frightened but unharmed.
In an affidavit supporting Mr. McCaslin's arrest, Zelienople police said Ms. Shriver told them she had been trying to break off the relationship with Mr. McCaslin for some time but he refuses to leave her alone.
After the abduction, according to the affidavit, he threatened to punch her "until she was dead" and took her to a rock cliff at McConnells Mill and implied he would throw her off.
Mr. McCaslin was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
