Teachers in the Gateway School District got a new five-year contract just days before the old one was to expire.

Teachers will receive 2 percent increases the first two years and last two years of the contract, and 1.75 percent for the third year, in addition to step pay increases. They will also receive tuition reimbursement and retirement incentives that include medical coverage.

They will share the costs of health care, paying 5 percent for the first two years of the contract and 6 percent the last three years.

Their current contract expires Monday.
