Jackson transfers from Wilkinsburg to Penn Hills
Monday, July 28, 2008

The top scorer in WPIAL girls' basketball -- and a member of the Post-Gazette Fabulous 5 this past season -- has transferred.

Darche Jackson, who last season led the league in scoring with 33.8 points per game, confirmed yesterday she has left Wilkinsburg High School and enrolled at Penn Hills for her senior season. She said she has also participated in a few offseason workouts with Penn Hills.

"We moved to a new house in Penn Hills," Jackson said of herself and her mother. "That was the reason I transferred."

A 5-foot-7 guard, Jackson twice scored 54 points in a game this past season and her points per game average was the highest for a player in a WPIAL regular season since 1990.

Jackson said she is being recruited by Division I colleges, including Duquesne, Youngstown State, Canisius and Delaware.
