Grand Prix road closings today in Oakland
Sunday, July 20, 2008

The 26th Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix today will bar traffic from several streets and roads around Schenley Park until 6 p.m.

Vintage Grand Prix President and Race Director Mike Connolly said affected roads include:

• Schenley Drive, which will be open to the park at Panther Hollow Road, then closed to Westinghouse Pond.

• West Circuit Road, which will be closed behind the park golf course and to Serpentine Drive.

• Serpentine Drive, which will be closed to Bartlett Street.

• The Boulevard of the Allies, which will be closed between Greenfield Avenue and the Panther Hollow and Anderson Street bridges.

• The Anderson Street bridge, where traffic will be detoured onto Overlook Drive.

The race this year will honor its co-founder, the late sports broadcaster Myron Cope, and also will salute Italian sports cars. Proceeds from the race, which is one of only two in the world that is run on city streets, benefit the Allegheny Valley School and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.
