Chili Cook-off with Kicks
Saturday, July 12, 2008

They're baaaack! The Pittsburgh Riverhounds, that is.

After taking a year off, the team has returned under new ownership determined to make professional soccer popular in the region.

There's some sort of get-together before every game, but it was extra special on July 5 during the First Annual Riverhounds Chili Cook-off Competition.

Fans and chili connoisseurs gathered at Chartiers Valley High School Stadium to sample the hearty fare, which was judged by a panel of "experts." Then the Hounds took on the Western Massachusetts Pioneers before a large crowd of dedicated fans, some of whom have been rooting for the team since it was founded in 1999.
