In honor of the traditions of the stern paddle steamboats, Old Economy Village is hosting a coach trip to Marietta, Ohio, Sept. 5-7 for the 33rd annual Sternwheeler Festival. Along the way, the group will visit historic sites like the Hannibal Locks, the Ohio River Museum and Marietta earthworks.

More than 40 artists will display their works at the ninth annual Art in the Park event at Deep Creek State Park next weekend.

The event will be held at the Discovery Center and runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Sunday. Admission is free. For information, call 1-301-387-7067.

In addition to the art and crafts that will be on sale (jewelry, photography, furniture, pottery, baskets, habitat boxes, wool rugs, etc.), there will be hands-on children's activities, music, food and naturalist programs.
