Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett has sued two health clubs -- including one in Edgewood -- and reached settlements with two others in the aftermath of business deals that left some clients without access to services for which they already had paid.

The East Hills Racquet and Fitness Club, operator of the Edgewood Tennis Fitness Club, is the only Western Pennsylvania business named in the consumer protection lawsuit.

The Edgewood Tennis Fitness Club, in the 2900 block of McKelvey Road in Swissvale, closed abruptly in February, leading to 83 complaints from clients who already had paid for memberships or tennis court time, Mr. Corbett said in a press release.

The lawsuit accused David D. Hasley of Franklin Park, the club's president and treasurer, of failing to give refunds to members who, after the change in operations, did not get full value from their membership or court time payments.

Settlements were reached with health club businesses in York and Lancaster. A Harrisburg health club was named in a separate consumer protection suit.
