WVU picks interim provost; predecessor quit in M.B.A. flap
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

West Virginia University President Mike Garrison today named an interim replacement for Provost Gerald Lang, who resigned in the wake of a controversy over the improper awarding of an M.B.A. degree.

E. Jane Martin, who served as dean of the WVU nursing school for 15 years and most recently was senior advisor to the vice president for health sciences, will be the interim provost.

Mr. Lang stepped down as provost after an outside investigative panel found that a master's of business administration was awarded to a Mylan executive years after she failed to complete the program.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
