Man wounded in shooting outside of Homewood bar

A man was critically wounded in a shooting early today outside of a bar in Homewood, Pittsburgh homicide detectives said.

The 43-year-old victim, whose name had not been released this morning, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where he underwent emergency surgery for bullet wounds of the head and chest, police said.

The shooting was reported at 1:53 a.m. Police arrived at the scene to find the victim on the floor of Earl the Pearl's bar in the 7200 block of Kelly Street.

Investigators said the man had been shot while outside the bar, and he made his way inside seeking help.

No arrests have been made.

Eyewitnesses described the suspect as a black man in his 20s.
