Letter to the editor/West: VFD Run/Walk raises $6,784
Thursday, May 08, 2008

I am thrilled to report that because of the generosity in supporting the first Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department 5K Run/Walk on April 26, we were able to raise $6,784.07.

After expenses are paid, we estimate that the fire department will recognize more than $5,700 in profit.

By all accounts, this event was a huge success, not only in raising money for the financially distressed fire department but for bringing 260 runners and walkers, in addition to many more spectators, together for a true "community event."

Please never underestimate your contribution in making this event a success.

JEFFREY C. HARBIN

Carnegie Chief of Police
