Only registered Democrats and Republicans are allowed to vote.
Voters will be asked to state a preference for president and then choose convention delegates. The choice that counts is presidential preference.
At stake in the Democratic presidential race are 158 delegates, 103 of whom are allotted proportionally by congressional district; 35 proportionally by the statewide vote; and another 20, reserved for party leaders and elected officials that are also proportionately allotted. On the Republican side, 71 delegates are at stake.
Identification (any of 15 types) is required for first-time voters.
Voters who sent in registration cards before March 24, but whose cards were not processed, will be able to vote using a provisional ballot.
Any voter whose registration card was not received in the elections office by March 24 will not be eligible to vote.
Banks, liquor stores and post offices are open. No change in mail delivery or Port Authority schedules. Garbage collection is as usual.
