Picking Sides
See what our readers had to say about the candidates they are supporting in the April 22 Democratic primary.
I support Obama

My vote will go to Barack Obama because he is the new face of a much younger Democratic Party. He has electrified millions of Americans with his hands on approach to solving America's problems. Those problems face all Americans of all backgrounds.

I have not seen such a political force captivate an entire generation of young people to get them to vote. Senator Obama is the force of change that America needs. He has fresh ideas and an innovative approach to put our country on the right track after eight tumultuous years.

Senator Obama has the best chance to succeed.

Americans deserve PEACE and PROSPERITY !. Hillary Clinton has worked her entire professional life to help make things better for children and for all of us in America who have worked to help ourselves navigate through life . Hillary is brilliant, personable and able to work with both sides of our political system . Hillary is compassionate and a strong woman that we can all be proud of to represent the people of the United States around the world.

HILLARY has proven her ability to work with the Republicans in Congress and she has been a great Senator of New York.

I am so fortunate to be able to vote for Hillary Clinton who will bring to us the dignity and security that we the people deserve. Hillary Clinton for PEACE AND PROSPERITY !

Hello Pennsylvania! Do you want to elect someone who wants to build the future, or someone who can't shake the past? This is that 'once in a blue moon' opportunity we've been waiting for; a chance to be a major player in selecting a President. Our state can put Barak over the top, and allow us to get on with putting a Democrat in the White House. Are you tired of our not being an important part of the process? Well this is your chance to make your voice heard. Obama is THE visionary leader for our times!

I support Obama! After reading about Mrs. Clinton's lies about Nafta, sniper fire in Tuzla, the sad healthcare story about the woman with the stillborn baby in Ohio who died herself which ended up being a lie too, her possibly being indicted in the Peter Paul case, and her $109 million in 6 years, and finally her chief strategist Mark Penn not being fired after meeting with Colombians on trade issues I know that as a woman I just cannot trust her word or judgement on day 1 or day 1001. She is fooling hardworking blue collar families and I am ashamed that I supported her at all. Please vote for Senator Obama on April 22!

Leading to war, Obama read intelligence reports, Clinton didn't. He went public against it, not popular at that time, but he was right! Clinton's explanation: she was misled so she voted for war. Who acted Presidential?

Obama is against lobbyists, Clinton in the debate: we can't get rid of them. Clinton's campaign is "in the red", Obama's is sound and financially responsible. Embellishing, lying, "misspeaking" reveals Clinton's character, ability, and that she IS experienced in Washington politics.

Obama has shown that intelligence, sound reasoning, honesty, and a call for unity, are what we need in our next President!

It took me awhile to become an Obama supporter, and I only see one reason for my ambivalence. I didn't want my hope getting in the way.

Then I finally listened to Obama's vision for our country. Why did I discount this feeling of hope? Why had I given up on a more positive, more hopeful America? Obama's message made me realize I actually have not.

I'm no longer worried about my hope getting in the way. His message will not only heal our country, but will also make America what we want it to -- and hope it can -- be.

Barack Obama's selection by a majority of voters would represent, to me, a unified expression of promise and hope that has lingered in my heart for half my life. He stands before this nation as fine a candidate of capability, education and presence as we have ever known. We know his color would not be prohibitive were he considering becoming the top soldier. One can only hope that as fair a consideration be applied. His choice, I believe, would start us down a transformative path reflecting an expression of unity and authenticity unparalleled in our message to the world.
