Ask Carley: How to deal with bummed out bridesmaids
Monday, March 24, 2008

Q: I haven't even looked for bridesmaid dresses yet, and already one of the girls is complaining that she won't look as good as the others. What can I do to reassure her?

A: Sounds like this maid needs a confidence makeover. Try to allay her fears as best you can by telling her how great she'll look, and in the meantime, think about letting your bridesmaids dress to their individual body types.

The days of perfectly matching maid ensembles are over, and many brides are asking their girls to simply coordinate -- whether they wear the same color in different styles, or perhaps just a matching skirt.

An added benefit to letting your girls choose their own styles: You'll let their personalities shine through -- and they'll be better maids for it. Tell your friend that you're happy to include her in the shopping to make sure you find a flattering style for everyone
