West Virginia native and football coach Rich Rodriguez is leaving for Michigan.
Rodriguez went into a 1:30 meeting today to tell his Mountaineers that after seven years he's leaving for a Big Ten tradition.
Rodriguez will have to pay the $4 million of his buyout clause.
He met with university president Mike Garrison and other administrators Saturday and his attempts to ask for additional program improvements -- nothing related to his contract terms -- were rebuffed. So by late Saturday night his representative reached an agreement in principal with Michigan officials on a contract that is believed to pay Rodriguez $2.5 million annually with incentives that could push it to $3 million annually.
