Q: I was encouraged by Keith Benjamin's 16 points in the opener. Do you think Pitt's more up-tempo style this season will play to Benjamin's strengths? I think he is the most athletic of Pitt's four-man guard rotation and can average 10 points if he gets 20 minutes a game.

Allen Weinstock, Harrisburg

Fittipaldo: Benjamin looked really good against Houston Baptist and I agree that his strengths in the open floor will come to the forefront when Pitt is able to control the tempo and get out and run. Against

North Carolina A&T and Saint Louis he only scored three points in a combined 32 minutes. He did not score against the Billikens, who got the Panthers into a slow-down, low-possession game. Pitt is not always

going to be able to control the tempo, so your 10-point per game prediction is a bit off, but I believe Benjamin can be a valued member of this team because of his experience. If he continues to average 17 minutes a game there is no reason he can't average six points a game.
