Q: Hypothetically, if Dave Wannstedt was asked to replace some of his staff next year, would he do it or would he rather go down with the ship and be fired himself?

Marc Tiley, Greensburg

ZEISE: Not only is that a possibility -- staff changes that go beyond just a few cosmetic changes -- I'd say it is probably. Dave is a very loyal guy, he has a lot of characater and he isn't one to throw others under the bus, but he also understands it is a bottom-line business and ultimately, regardless of how many good things you do, you are judged on wins and losses. And there are areas on this team that aren't getting it done and he will do whatever it takes to make upgrades.

Q: It was a pleasant surprise to see Conredge Collins play a bigger part in Pitt's offense against Navy. He went from 1 carry each against Michigan State and Connecticut and not playing against UVA to 9 carries against Navy. How do you account for that? Was he in the doghouse or injured prior to the Navy game or has Wannstedt finally started playing his best players regardless of prior starting position?

Maher Hoque, Monroeville, Pa.

ZEISE: No, in recent years there were some questions about his willingness to do some of the not-so-fun work of a fullback, but this year he has really been a team leader, he has worked hard and coaches have been high on him. I think it was a matchup thing, they saw something they liked and decided he'd be a big part of the game plan. And to his credit, he made the most of it so I would expect we will see more from him because I have always thought he was an excellent runner and a good receiver. It will be interesting to see if the use of him was a one-game, matchup thing or if his role will continue to grow.
