Nibbles: New restaurant opening Downtown

On August 27, another new restaurant is opening Downtown. The Capital Grille, with 29 restaurants nationwide, will open its doors at 5 p.m. in the new Piatt Place, Fifth Avenue and Wood Street (formerly Lazarus).

Known for its dry-aged, hand-cut beef and extensive wine list (350 selections), the Capital Grille's menu highlights include Kona-crusted sirloin with caramelized shallot butter, porcini-rubbed Delmonico and sliced filet mignon with cippolini onions and wild mushrooms, plus fresh seafood.

The restaurant will be open for dinner seven days a week, with lunch served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are recommended. Call 412-338-9100.

Bruce May to speak on beer

Bruce May, local wine and spirits expert and former PG wine columnist, will choose beers from around the world for a "Food and Beer Pairing" at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Mary Lee's Meals, 2622 Brandt School Road, Franklin Park.

On the menu are lemon and herb shrimp (paired with Celis White), salmon and asparagus (German Konig Pilsner), Australian pepper berry chicken on a spud bed (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale), chorizo-stuffed dates (Samuel Adams Black Lager), beef tenderloin with gorgonzola drizzle (Belgian Chimay Grande Reserve Ale) and hazelnut cream cups (Sri Lankan Lion Stout).

Get a Milk Mustache

The Milk Mustache mobile stops in the 'Burgh from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Shop'n Save in Etna and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at Giant Eagle, Monroeville. Sample milks from Heritage Farms and Turner Dairy, get a milk mustache picture taken and sign up for the Think About Your Drink Challenge.

Sunny Funny Fair

The annual Sunny Funny Fair at Carnegie Library of Homestead in Munhall will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Bring family and friends for hot dogs, burgers, chips, pop, games, kids activities and dancing.

Wunderbar!

It's wunderbar dinner time, 5 p.m. Saturday at Harmony Museum in Harmony. The famed German dinner, held in air-conditioned Stewart Hall, offers a taste of the old country with pork and sauerkraut, sausages, beef, green beans with bacon, spaetzle, potato salad, red cabbage, potato pancakes, salads and homemade desserts. $13.
