Pitt Basketball: Benjamin charges may drop
Saturday, April 21, 2007

Simple assault charges could be dropped against Pitt basketball player Keith Benjamin if he and a former girlfriend obey the law in the next 30 days. Benjamin and Ashley Olczak were arrested April 12 following a domestic dispute on Hyman Place in the Hill District. Olczak and Benjamin accused one another in a criminal complaint for hitting the other.

"Neither party wanted to proceed with the charges," said Dan Regan, a lawyer representing Benjamin.

"All parties agreed to go 30 days. If there are no incidents, all charges will be dropped."

Benjamin, a reserve for the Panthers, averaged 3.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game this past season.
